India reported a record 412,000 Covid cases in the room of 24 hours on Wednesday, and 3,980 deaths.

The government’s top scientific consultant also forewarned a third tide is inevitable.

The current spate of coronavirus have now been overtook the healthcare structure with infirmary couches, oxygen and even crematorium gap in short supply.

Several states are under localised lockdowns and curfews, but the government is reluctant to impose a national lockdown, for suspicion of the impact on the economy.
